Common questions

Why convert PNG to AVIF?

PNG files are lossless and often very large, which slows down web pages. AVIF keeps excellent visual quality while producing far smaller files — frequently a fraction of the PNG size — so your site loads faster and uses less bandwidth, which also improves Lighthouse and PageSpeed scores.

Does AVIF support transparency like PNG?

Yes. AVIF supports an alpha channel, so transparent PNGs convert to transparent AVIFs — your logo or icon keeps its clean transparent background, just in a much smaller file.

Do all browsers support AVIF?

All current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and Opera display AVIF natively. Very old browsers don't — the standard approach is to serve AVIF with an automatic PNG or WEBP fallback. For maximum compatibility everywhere, keep a PNG copy too.

Is there a file size limit?

Free users can convert PNG files up to 25 MB without an account, or up to 10 conversions per day with a free account. Pro users get 500 MB per file and 3,000 credits a month. Business users get up to 5 GB.
